1000Wishes

A Rock Opera for Kika
The Hague rock band PBII and the Hofstad Youth Orchestra conducted by Marcel Geraeds released with this Rock Opera the CD “1000Wishes” and the accompanying book “Eric and the Land of Thousand Wishes ”(Ronald van der Pol) to the theater. This musical spectacle was a clash of rock, classical and opera.

Framed with, ballet (Petra Smale), animation (Mannes van der Burg and Maartje Mast). All this wrapped up in a beautiful decor with beautiful light images and an impressive sound reproduction (DaCapo). Clothing was provided by Lois Louisiana.

The story is told of 9-year-old Eric, who bravely fights cancer. The arrangements have been made by Marco C. de Bruin, arranger of the Metropolitan Orchestra, among others. The script and direction were in the hands of Elma ten Boekel and Marianne Kuijpers together forming the theater collective blondeBizon.
In the lead roles Frits Lambrechts (Grandpa), David van Alten (Eric) and Pieter van Dijk (Sander).

Rien Schimmel: “Why we are involved in this project to do with the creativity of the initiative. When you see that these “old rockers” commit themselves so socially and combine that with children at a completely different level in the classical style, that is on the one hand unique and on the other hand playful and also has it for us a great look! ”
